Trading

The Trading Division has two key functions, namely central group procurement of tobacco packaging related materials (especially for board and foil) and the trading of other materials not produced by the Group. These other materials include acetate-tow, BOPP film, aluminium foil and cork-tipping paper.

By having a central procurement, the Group is able to reduce overall operational costs through bulk purchases and collective negotiation. At present, the Group has trading companies in Singapore and Hong Kong. To enhance its service value-add, the Trading Division also acts as agents for the Group’s customers to develop their business in specific markets.

Corrugated Containers

As part of its strategic plan to rationalise its businesses, the Group has downsized its Corrugated Containers Division by divesting and closing several business units in this division. The Group currently operates one corrugated containers plant in Vietnam through a joint venture partnership with a key tobacco customer. This plant manufactures corrugated recycled cartons and sheets for general packaging in fast moving consumer goods segments like tobacco, food & beverage, as well as other consumer industries such as electronics, electrical appliances, and furniture sectors.
