Mr. Yen Wen Hwa founded New Toyo in 1975 when he set up the first factory, New Toyo Aluminium Paper Product Co (Pte) Ltd, in Jurong, Singapore. In April 1997, the Group, through New Toyo International Holdings Ltd, was listed on the Singapore Exchange.

New Toyo Group has two main business operating divisions: Specialty Papers and Printed Cartons and Labels. Both these businesses specialise in specific sectors of the packaging markets such as tobacco, food and beverages packaging. The key clients include international tobacco companies and government owned tobacco monopolies. The Group also handles trading of other tobacco relating packaging materials and operates three corrugation containers plants in China and Vietnam.

Today, New Toyo operates in more than six countries and supplies across Asia Pacific and the Middle-East. The Group has more than 1,900 employees.
